Ward Excavation is a 25-year-old, family-run excavation and land clearing contractor operating out of Whiteville, North Carolina. Owner Bradley Ward runs an 8-person crew across southeastern North Carolina and the northeastern Pee Dee region of South Carolina, handling land clearing, grading, drainage, pond construction, paving, and every other form of dirt work that residential, commercial, and agricultural property owners need done.

Ward Excavation is a family-owned land clearing and excavation contractor based in Whiteville, North Carolina. Owner Bradley Ward founded the company in 2001 and has built it around a simple operating idea: show up when you say you will, run the right machine for the job, and leave the site cleaner than you found it.

Today the crew is 8 strong and runs a full fleet of excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, and graders. We work residential, commercial, and agricultural jobs of nearly every size — from clearing a half-acre house lot to building an earthen pond dam to grading a commercial pad site.

How a Ward job runs

Every job starts with a site visit. A crew lead walks the property with the owner, looks at the terrain, the access, the soil, and the scope, and writes a quote on site or within a day or two. The quote is a written estimate at no charge — it covers what the work is, what equipment we will bring, and what it will cost. If the quote works, we lock in a start date that fits the customer's timeline and the weather window.

The crew that shows up operates out of the same yard at 307 Old Tram Road in Whiteville where the equipment is stored, maintained, and loaded. Cleanup is part of the job, not an add-on — when we leave, the site is graded, debris is hauled, and the ground is ready for whatever comes next. The same family is on the phone from the first inquiry through the final invoice.

Where we work

We operate from our yard at 307 Old Tram Road, Whiteville, NC and serve a 150-mile radius that covers Columbus, Bladen, Robeson, Brunswick, and New Hanover counties in North Carolina, plus Horry County on the South Carolina coast. Today the service area reaches across 33 counties in southeastern North Carolina and the northeastern Pee Dee region of South Carolina, with regular jobs as far as Sumter and Wayne County.

What we do

Ward Excavation handles land prep and clearing for new residential, commercial, and agricultural sites — including forestry mulching for underbrush and small-tree removal in a single pass. We do the earthwork that follows: grading, excavation, pad building, and ditching and drainage correction. We build earthen ponds and dams. We construct and maintain driveways and private roads, including gravel, chip-seal, and asphalt paving. We haul fill dirt, gravel, and debris. We handle demolition of houses, barns, mobile homes, and slabs with full debris removal. And we do tree and stump removal for lots that need to be cleared down to grade.

All of that under one contractor. The full service list covers each one in detail.
